This beautiful piece of Gothic architecture was left to us by the Finns, who were expelled from the Northern Ladoga region first after the Winter War, and then again after World War II. Nearby lies a cemetery of Finnish soldiers, which together with the church forms a very atmospheric and evocative landscape ensemble.
We don’t know what the situation is like there now, but a few years ago the church was open — wonderfully abandoned and an absolute must-see on a cold, misty October day.
